To promote tourism in any part of India, the state governments keep on bringing new measure or ways to develop the tourism in their state. Recently, two well known states of India, Gujarat and Rajasthan have decided to work jointly and promote tourism jointly. The two states have agreed to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) soon, which in turn according to them will attract tourists from Europe and the US, to western India.

"We had a meeting with the Usha Sharma, principal secretary, tourism, Government of Rajasthan and have identified that for international promotion the two states can come together and promote the region jointly. We are in fact in talks with Maharashtra Government too for a promotional strategy jointly for the entire western India region,” said, Vipul Mittra, principal secretary of tourism and civil aviation, Government of Gujarat. The project was announced officially on sidelines of GITB 2011.
