The backwaters of Kerala are long network of about 1500 km in length. The boulevards of still lagoons and canals are of both man-made and natural and amongst them 38 are rivers and the rest 5 are big lakes spreading vast areas of land. These backwaters are routes connecting every nook and corners of the state and thus the special boats floating on it are a special means of transports in ancient days but now the well modified alluring houseboats and its cruise has become quit popular and many rush for it.
